New World Beer & Cider Awards 2024

Desperate Glory takes out the top accolade for 2024
New World Beer & Cider Awards

An expert panel of independent judges sniffed, swirled, sipped, tasted and debated more than 600 different beers and ciders and agreed on the Top 30 and the next 20 Highly Commended. Each brew was judged solely on its taste (judges see only the beer or cider in the glass, never any bottles or brands).

The Supreme win means a further round of tasting, putting the Top 30 head to head, and finished with Desperate Glory in the absolute first position.

We knew it was a special beer, made with friends at Small Gods Brewing, after all, the base beer, a rich and complex Belgian Amber Ale did spend a year in bourbon barrels, and was then blended with Chinese Keemun tea to add a light floral character with hints of tobacco and cocoa.

"A remarkable beer with some wine-like qualities, and as such will pair beautifully with food. It’s surprisingly light on the palate, but there’s a depth of flavour and complexity that will keep bringing you back for more."

But there's more. We're thrilled to demonstrate that 8 Wired isn't just known for bold stouts, hoppy sours, or our barrel-aged beauties. The beers featured here showcase our creativity and versatility, proving we can excel across a wide range of styles. After all, innovation is at the core of 8 Wired's identity.

Our success with low-carb, lower-alcohol beers is evident with LO-FI Raspberry Sour making it to the Top 30. This beer signifies exciting times ahead as we align with changing consumer preferences. The judges said, "LOW CARB COMBINED WITH LOW ABV (2.5%) AND BIG FLAVOUR IS A WIN-WIN."

The Top 30 beer and ciders will be available in New World stores nationwide. We recommend working your way through the list for some top brews!
